Edith Florine Thompson
Edith F. Thompson, age 87 of Hailey, Idaho passed away Monday, September 13, 2010, at her home. Edith was born May 19, 1923 in New Goshen, Indiana, the daughter of Elmer and Clydie Knoy.
She moved with her family at a very early age to North Eastern Wyoming where her family homesteaded. She attended country schools where she received her early education. The family then moved to Hailey, Idaho where her father was employed as a carpenter constructing the Sawtooth Club in Ketchum. She continued her education in the Wood River Schools.
Edith married Robert W. Thompson on July 26, 1942 in Hailey where they resided until late 1959 when they moved to Gillette, Wyoming. The family returned to the family home in Hailey in the spring of 1966 where they remained until her death.
During Edith’s working career, she was employed in house keeping and as a prep cook at various food establishments and at the senior center in Hailey.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Robert, four children; Robert of Casper, Wyoming, Harry (Carolyn) of Caldwell, Tim (Ginny) of Hailey and Tom (Becky) of San Diego, CA andeight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Harry (Sis) Knoy of Livonia, MI and a sister Thora Keene of Ypsilanti, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Richard (Rick) Thompson, three sisters and two brothers.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 18 at the Hailey Cemetery with Keb Anderson officiating.
