Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Ross Morgan Young, passed away at home in Carey, Idaho on March 17, 2024.
Ross was born in Heber City, Utah on September 26, 1929. He was the youngest of ten children born to Wiliam George Young and Edna Margaret Wilson.
Ross grew up on the family dairy farm in Heber City, Utah. He graduated from Wasatch High School in 1947. Following graduation, Ross served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the East Central States Mission. Upon returning from his mission, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. Ross was stationed in Southern California and served as a meat inspector. It was there he met the love of his life, Karen Marie Wilcox. They were married on November 23, 1955, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Ross graduated from Brigham Young University and went on to receive his Master’s degree from Utah State University. After graduation he was employed by Kraft Foods and worked in Paris, Idaho and later moved to Carey, Idaho. Ross worked for Kraft Foods for 24 years. He worked for the United Dairymen of Idaho until his retirement. After retirement he was a school bus driver for Blaine County School District for 9 years.
Ross and Karen were blessed with six children: William (Cinde) Young, Elizabeth Young, Marie (Lane) Hansen, David Young, Donna (Chip) Barker, and Kristen (Gaylan) Springer.
Ross loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He spent many hours watching and supporting them in their activities and achievements. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and restoring family heirlooms. He had a love for crossword puzzles, reading, and poetry, but couldn’t spell worth a darn.
Ross served in many capacities within the Church including Scout Master, Bishopric Counselor, Teacher, Young Men’s President, Finance Clerk, and Temple Ordinance Worker. Ross and Karen served in the Illinois Nauvoo Mission and later in the Iowa Des Moines Mission. While serving in Nauvoo Ross learned to loom. This later became his retirement hobby, making many rugs and table runners.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and son-in-law, Lane Hansen. He is survived by his wife, Karen, 6 children, 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren.
