Ronald Gary Runge was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on July 31, 1934. He passed away peacefully on Dec. 9, 2024.
Ron attended University of Arizona and South Dakota State University, where he received a degree in electrical engineering. In addition to earning his degree at South Dakota State University, Ron also met the love of his life, a fellow student, Shirlee Dworak.
Ron and Shirlee were married in 1956 and settled in Villa Park, California, where they raised their three children: Rod, Rochelle and Ray. As an engineer, Ron worked for McDonnell Douglas Research Center and NASA. He invented the Voice Input Model and then started his own company, Voice Connection. While raising children, Ron coached Little League. He was also an avid reader and a constant presence on the golf course.
In the early 2000s, Ron and Shirlee moved to Sun Valley to be closer to their daughter, Rochelle. Ron enjoyed his time volunteering for Meals on Wheels and pursuing his passion for golf. With a kind heart and infectious smile, Ron did not know a stranger.
Ron is survived by his lovely wife of 68 years, his son Rod Runge and his daughter, Rochelle Sisilli. He was predeceased by his son Ray Runge. Additionally, Ron has four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ron’s favorite holiday was Easter. Therefore, a celebration of life will take place in spring 2025.
