Life Story for
David V. Puz MD
David V. Puz, M.D., passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018, in Ketchum, Idaho, after suffering a
cardiac arrest.
Special acknowledgment and deepest appreciation go to the efforts of the local EMTs, the
firemen and Blaine County policemen. His wife expresses her deepest gratitude for their
concerns and compassion.
David was born in Olympia, Wash., on April 5, 1943. Tacoma, Wash., was his home during his
youth, junior high school and high school. He was educated at the University of Washington and then went on to receive his medical degree. He did a straight medical internship in CT. Returning to the University of Washington, he did a residency in anesthesiology. He then returned east for a clinical fellowship in respiratory-surgical intensive care at Beth Israel Hospital.
He and his wife Patty established a home in Seattle and he practiced at Providence Medical Center as a cardiac anesthesiologist until he retired in 2003 and relocated full time to Sun Valley.
Music was a part of who he was. He loved bluegrass music and Lawrence Smart instruments.
He enjoyed being involved in the community and he loved his neighborhood. He served on
the Hulen Meadows Homeowners Association board for many years. One of his greatest joys
was bicycle riding and he did it as often as the weather would allow.
He will be missed by his wife, Patty, and his many longtime friends.
Memorial services will be announced.
