Life Story for Edna Mae Poe

Edna Poe, born Martha Edna Mae Cromeans in Anson, Texas, on Oct. 17, 1916, passed away March 16, 2016, at the age of 99. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ola Mae Cromeans; her two brothers, Clarence and Virgil Cromeans; her husband, Coy Poe of Ketchum, Idaho; and her daughter, Coye Jo Daniels of San Angelo, Texas.

She lived many years in Houston, Texas, before moving with her family to Anacortes, Wash. Later, she and her husband moved to Ketchum, Idaho, where Coy was a professional photographer and she his trusty assistant.

Wherever she lived, Edna was committed to her church. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron, the presiding officer of her chapter.

In later years, she moved to Sierra Vista, Ariz., where she enjoyed countless hours as a volunteer for the Sierra Vista Hospital Auxiliary. She was strong in her faith and an active member of the First Baptist Church and Lady’s Bible Study.

Edna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mark and Peggy Spear of Hereford, Ariz., and her son, Hollis Poe of Montana. She was lovingly known as Momma Poe by her 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

A special thank you is accorded to her extended family at Villa Vista Assisted Living Facility. They provided loving, gracious and amazing care.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Hailey Cemetery in Hailey, Idaho, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband of more than 50 years.

Edna Poe passed as she lived, in grace, loved by the Lord and by every person lucky enough to share the light of her smile. Her life was a blessing and her memory will always be a treasure.
