Peggy Merideth Hollitz

Peggy Hollitz, 89, formerly of the Wood River Valley, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, with her boys, Ryan and Sean Hollitz, at her side.

Peggy, a beloved mother, entrepreneur, and lifelong adventurer, was born on November 24, 1936, in Aurora, Illinois. She was the only daughter of Roy and Lena Merideth.

Peggy attended the University of Illinois, where she made the Dean’s List several times, reflecting both her intelligence and determination. Throughout her life, she embraced many roles and excelled at each of them. She was a dance instructor, a teacher, and a successful business owner. Among her most prominent ventures were Sawtooth Mountain Travel and Mountain Resorts, both located in the Wood River Valley, where she built lasting relationships and community connections.

Peggy was the proud mother of two sons, Ryan and Sean, who were the center of her world, and grandmother to Oona.

Peggy will be remembered for her entrepreneurial spirit, her love of celebration, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable life.
