William Norris

William Edwin “Bill” Norris, 80, of Sun Valley, passed away in his sleep on June 2, 2018, after three years of battling cancer, having been cared for at home by family, friends and dedicated caregivers. He was born Sept. 29, 1937, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, the son of Thomas Edwin Norris and Kathryn Bernice McMahan. Bill was raised in Claremont, California. Upon graduation from Stanford University, he was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy. Following a two-year deployment to the Western Pacific, he was Honorably Discharged as a LTJG. He later lived in Newport Beach, Upland, and Riverside, California working with McMahan’s Furniture. In 1970, Bill and his family settled in Sun Valley, Idaho, where he entered the real estate business with the Sun Valley Company. After years of leading his own firm, he ultimately served with Sotheby’s International Realty. He was past president of the Sawtooth Board of Realtors, and was active in Higher Ground eagerly supporting the many Veterans participating in the various programs it offers.

Bill is survived by his wife, Adrian B. Norris, of Sun Valley; his children, William Tyler Norris, of Oakland, CA, Julie Anna Wiethorn, of Blodgett, OR and Trevor Edwin Norris (and wife Claudia Lopez Duarte), of Lima, Peru and their mother Nancy Johnson Norris; his stepchildren, Stephen Fellner, of Newport Beach, CA, Christianne Veconi, of Larkspur, CA, and Adam Buchanan, of Hampshire, England; and his grandchildren, Elke Wiethorn, Eliza Verena Norris and Emmet Daler Norris. He is also survived by many extended family members and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Craig Ridgley Norris and Alan Sheldon Norris.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Ketchum, followed by a private interment in the Ketchum Cemetery. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday June 7, 2018, at the Valley Club, 100 Club View Dr. North, Hailey, Idaho.
