Marie C. "Cunnie" McGowan
Marie “Cunnie” McGowan passed away at St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center in Ketchum, Idaho on January 2, 2015.
Cunnie was born to Edgar Cullen McGowan and Elizabeth Carroll McGowan in Framingham, Mass. on Jan. 9, 1927. She was raised and educated in North Attleboro, Mass.
Cunnie graduated from Bridgewater State Teachers College in Mass., and taught for the Department of Defense in Asia and Europe for thirty-five years. She loved her years abroad traveling and spending Christmases in Zermatt. However, she spent her summers at home with her beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Cunnie retired to Sun Valley, Idaho in 1987 and spent her time hiking, skiing and playing bridge. She was a bridge master and taught bridge for many years.
Cunnie leaves behind many cherished friends. She is survived by two brothers Edgar (wife Connie) of Ketchum, Idaho and Jack of Boston, Mass.; eight nieces and nephews; ten great nieces and nephews; and a great-great niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her sister Claire McGowan Cameron and her niece Colleen McGowan Mason.
A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 9, 2015 at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church with a reception following. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in North Attleboro, Mass.
