Doris Maureen McAlister Smith, 87, a lifelong resident of Idaho, was born in Rupert on March 25,1933, to Guy and Lois McAlister. Maureen passed peacefully at home in Hailey, Idaho surrounded by her family on July 30, 2020.
Maureen was the fourth of 6 children and is survived by 2 younger siblings, 4 children, 14 grandchildren who knew her as "fat grandma", 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren who knew her as "grandma cracker" along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Maureen's greatest gift to life was her wry sense of humor and her loving, caring and giving nature. The legacy she leaves behind is 5 generations of love which she showed by example.
