Maryl “Bunch” Cohan, 79, passed away Feb. 21, 2020, after a hard-fought and courageous battle.
Bunch first came to Sun Valley in the late 1950s to visit her grandmother, “Sun Valley Salley.” She stayed 20 years. It was here that she would raise her daughter, Stacey, and begin her career in real-estate for Sun Valley Realty, where she met many friends who would be a constant in her life. It was that career that would take her to the San Francisco Bay area in the mid-1970s, where she continued her career as a project manager for several large real-estate corporations.
In 1979 she married Charles “Chuck” Cohan and they spent many happy years in the San Francisco Bay area, Bellevue, Wash., and Sun Valley.
In 2005 after Chuck’s retirement from James River Corp., they would return to the valley full-time to be close to their grandchildren. Chuck and Bunch spent countless hours volunteering for St. Luke’s Wood River, where she would meet many “new” friends.
Bunch was very active. An avid swimmer, she enjoyed swimming with the masters at Zenergy. She loved spending time with friends and her grandchildren, and hiking the trails with her “grand-dog,” Kiwi.
“I love my family, good friends, a good book and the beauty of this valley,” she said. “Being a grandmother to four incredible grandchildren—Colton, Caitlin, Sofia and Carmen—has brought me the greatest joy.”
Bunch is survived by her husband, Chuck Cohan, Ketchum, Idaho; sister, Bonnie Welch, Sunland, Calif.; daughter, Stacey Sholtis (Jack), Ketchum, Idaho; grandchildren Colton Sholtis, San Jose, Calif., and Caitlin Sholtis, Bozeman, Mont.; stepdaughters, Suzanne Cohan, Columbus, Ohio, and Catherine Cohan Micci (Michael), State College, Pa.; and grandchildren Sofia and Carmen Micci, State College, Pa.
According to Bunch’s wishes, burial service will be private for family members. Should you wish, donations may be made to Hospice of the Wood River Valley (Angels at your time of need), Ketchum, Idaho.
