Mary Anne Pinkerton passed away peacefully at her home on September 12, 2023.
Born in 1945 in Bakersfield, California, Mary Anne and her family eventually settled in Ventura. After attending Ventura College and San Diego State, Mary Anne met Allan Pinkerton and they married in 1967. In Ventura she was active in Assistance League and P.E.O. – the start of her lifelong dedication to service groups.
The Pinkerton family moved to Sun Valley in 1981. She spent much of her life dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church (serving as a lector, a catechism teacher and a member of the parish council) and the P.E.O. Sisterhood, where she held every office and leadership position imaginable, including serving as President of Idaho State Chapter. Her church and her sisters meant the world to her.
Mary Anne enjoyed reading, travel, needlepoint, laughing with her girlfriends, walks with dogs, Nordic skiing (but definitely not downhill skiing) and she loved Idaho and her church. But anyone who knew her knows that she loved her animals beyond all else. She will be missed.
Mary Anne is survived by her husband, Allan Pinkerton, her daughter, Jennifer Talmadge (Ben), her son, Jonathan Pinkerton (Tori), her brother, Steven Zimrick, and her two adored grandchildren, Lexie and Courtney Pinkerton.
Mass will be held in her memory at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, with a reception to follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a small donation to your favorite charity.
