Mark William Reinking

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Mark Reinking, our beloved son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend, who left us suddenly, peacefully and much too soon after suffering a heart attack at his home in Sun Valley, Idaho. He lived a full and happy life in his 57 years. He was a total original, known for his generous ways and thoughtful heart, quick wit and sarcastic humor. Mark was a bright spirit like no other—always entertaining; if you were in his presence, you were laughing.

Born and raised in Santa Rosa, California, he attended Proctor Terrace Elementary, Santa Rosa Junior High and Santa Rosa High School. His love of sports began in his youth playing CYO basketball, Little League baseball and Santa Rosa United soccer, for which he was a member of the traveling club team that played in Iceland and Europe. He continued with soccer through his years on the Santa Rosa High School varsity soccer team, winning back-to-back league championships.

Mark graduated from Santa Rosa High and went on to earn a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from UC Santa Barbara, where he was also a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) fraternity.

Answering an ad for an assistant in a film production office in Los Angeles set him on his future path. What started as an entry-level production assistant position turned into a 30+ year career with the actress Demi Moore. As her personal assistant, he worked on countless film sets, traveled the world, lived in the orb of a very big life and became an integral part of her family along the way. It is during this time that he was nicknamed “Hunter” for his extraordinary ability to hunt things down and get things done. After years in Los Angeles, he eventually settled in Sun Valley, Idaho, to manage Demi’s estate and properties there.

Mark loved spending time with family and friends, golfing at The Valley Club, walking his dog on the trails along the Big Wood River, texting endlessly with his Dad during major sporting events, sharing inappropriate social media posts with his brother-in-law, spoiling his Mom with fabulous gifts, lovingly tormenting his niece and nephew, navigating life and family with his sister, and simply living an incredible life by Demi’s side.

Mark is survived by his loving family: parents Mary-Louise and C. William Reinking; sister, Kim (Reinking) Wight; brother-in-law, John Wight; niece, Adelaide Wight; nephew, Jack Wight, aunt, Sara Funkhouser; and his devoted dog, Truman. Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Virginia and Harry Pelganti; and his paternal grandparents Maurice and Charles W. Reinking.

A private family burial service was held at Santa Rosa Memorial Park. A private celebration of Mark’s life will be scheduled at a later date.

Mark certainly made life richer and more fun for all who knew and loved him. He was the best…he will be deeply missed.
