Keith Alan Winnovich, 75, of Hailey, ID passed away suddenly on August 29, 2025 following a stroke. Keith’s family, always the most important thing in his life, were at his side in his passing.
Keith was born and raised in Palo Alto, California. His love of music began when he was just nine years old, playing the trumpet and learning to read music in elementary school, as well as teaching himself to play the guitar. Keith’s early musical favorites were influenced by his older brother Bryan. He went on to play in various bands with friends while in junior high and high school.
Keith and his future wife, Linda Hammerson moved to Los Angeles soon after graduating from Gunn High School, so he might pursue what would remain his lifelong passion - playing the guitar. Living in LA was a great time, playing clubs in a band with other really good musicians, but not steady work. Keith and Linda were married in May 1973 and a year later moved back to the Bay Area.
Keith began working in the aerospace industry with Teledyne MEC in Palo Alto, and soon began taking courses part time at Santa Clara University where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1982. Keith and Linda welcomed daughters Kelly Jean and Lisa Nicole in 1981 and 1983 respectively. He volunteered a lot of his free time with Sunnyvale Alliance Youth Soccer Club while his daughters were growing up, coaching and serving on the board as Recreation Coordinator and then as President.
When Keith retired in 2012, he was a Director at Lockheed Martin in San Jose. He often said he was really lucky to work with some of the smartest, most amazing people while there. Keith and Linda moved to Hailey where they had family in 2013. Their granddaughter Lisa Jean was born the following year.
Keith is survived by his wife Linda, his daughter Kelly and granddaughter Lisa, and his brother Bryan and sister-in-law Karen, along with their children and grandchildren. Keith was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa, and his parents Thomas and Alma.
A private service will be held at a later date. Donations in Keith’s memory can be made to BCFiRST, a nonprofit chaired by his daughter Kelly, that supports mental wellness for first responders in Blaine County, ID. Please visit www.bcfirst.org for more details.
