Clarence Grubb

Obituary for Clarence A. "Chuck" Grubb

He was born January 4, 1919 in May, Idaho, the son of Arthur and Dora Christian Grubb. He married Myrtle C. Hanson on October 5, 1941.

Chuck graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He joined the Navy when World War II began and spent the next 23 years in the service of his country. It was a wonderful career that included obtaining a Master’s degree in Bioradiology from Berkeley, C.A. He worked with other Navy personnel on the Hydrogen and Atomic bomb tests in Nevada and the South Pacific. He retired in 1964 as a Captain in the Civil Engineer Corp.

After a 7 year stint at Stanford Research Institute as Director of Housing Research, he moved to Ketchum in 1972. He started building homes, apartments and condos. In 1977 he and a few partners purchased the Woodside Subdivision. He spent many happy years developing an area in the valley for affordable housing.

Survivors include his 3 daughters- Nancy Simpson of Sacramento, C.A., Judy Castle of Bellevue, Jean Eagleston of La Conner WA, grandchildren James Hartley of Granby, MA, Richard Hartley of Mukwonago, WI, Alisa Eagleston and six great grandchildren.

Following Cremation his ashes will be buried in the spring at the May Cemetery in the Pahsimeroi Valley.
