Hailey

Eric Eberhard, 80, of Hailey, Idaho passed away on August 13, due to an ATV accident in the hills of Hailey, Idaho.

Eric was born on June 3, 1945 in Lampasas, Texas to Milton and Evelyn Eberhard. Eric moved several times before his parents settled in Blackfoot, Idaho. He attended school in Blackfoot, but graduated from Snake River High School in 1963. He attended Idaho State University’s Technical School and obtained an associate degree in Instrumentation.

He started his career working for U of I Sugar in Moses Lake, Washington. Later he moved on to work at several nuclear generation plants as an instrumentation technician. Eventually he decided to follow his true passions which were his love for the outdoors and his natural artistic talents. This included painting, woodwork, jewelry making, carving and playing flutes. His beautiful jewelry was hand made from stones that he collected, cut, and spent hours polishing before mounting them in his personally designed necklaces.

He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed tying his own flies. He would travel to places like Mexico, the Caribbean, and Alaska in search of trophy species. Often you would find Eric fishing in one of Idaho’s many beautiful lakes or rivers. He also enjoyed many outdoor activities including cross country skiing, golf, hiking and camping in his van.

He was active in Trout Unlimited and the Silver Creek Preserve of the Nature Conservancy. His white van with the “Eberhard Studio” sign on the side was a well-known symbol in the Sun Valley area.

Eric is survived by his two brothers, Chad (Audrey) Blackfoot, ID and Todd (David Silva) Ashland, OR and the daughter of his heart, Alicia Miller, TX. He is survived by a number of nephews and nieces that all affectionately referred to him as “Unc”. He was preceded in death by his brother Kirk (Gloria) and his parents.

A private family service will be held in his honor. Though words can only capture part of the life well lived, may his memory bring comfort to those that knew him. His lasting motto was “keep percolating” which we will do in his memory.
