Elizabeth Christina
Miczulski
Jan 22, 1934 — Oct 8, 2026
Bellevue, ID
Elizabeth Christina Miczulski, age 92, passed away surrounded by her family in Bellevue, ID on October 8th, 2026. She was the eldest daughter of Jacob and Lorena Wagner and grew up in Pawnee, IL.
After graduating from Pawnee High School she was employed by Franklin Life Insurance Company in nearby Springfield, IL where she worked as a policy typist in the New Business Department for approximately a year before being promoted to secretary to that department’s assistant manager. She worked at this level for three years before marrying Joseph Miczulski in 1956, after which they moved to Joseph’s home state of New Jersey. Elizabeth and Joseph had two children and built their first home in Hillsborough. She was a member of the Hillsborough Women’s Club and served one year as the Ways and Means Chairperson. She also devoted many volunteer hours to the local hospital.
After her children were raised and gone from home Elizabeth resumed working full time and was employed at Summit Bancorporation. She had started in the Marketing Department and ended her career as a Loan Assistant in the Commercial Loan Department. She took pride in being known as an especially fast and accurate typist, and had received special recognition for her exceptional work while there. She retired in 1994 after 10 years of employment at Summit.
Joseph retired in 1995 and the following year they moved to Hailey, ID to be closer to their children and to see their grandchildren grow up. In Hailey they built their dream home which they enjoyed maintaining, as well as tending to their yard, and flower and vegetable gardens. Elizabeth was artistic, had a flair for decorating, and was a talented seamstress. She took great joy in making their house their home. It was furnished with many of her ceramic pieces, handsewn pillows, and embroidered wall pictures. She and Joseph had always enjoyed “antiquing” and displayed their many treasured finds throughout their home. Elizabeth will also be remembered as an excellent cook and baker. Family, friends and neighbors can attest that if you were on her list to receive a plate or tin of her yearly assortment of decadent Christmas cookies, you were in for a real treat.
While in Idaho, she and Joseph cross-country skied once a week when snow conditions allowed, until age caught up with them. They both loved a quiet afternoon or evening of reading, albeit different topics: him - military history, her - romance novels. Joseph became a member of the Ketchum American Legion Post 115, and Elizabeth joined the post’s Auxiliary where she was Secretary/Treasurer for 7 years. They took pleasure in visiting many of the country’s National Parks during their retirement. They enjoyed many cruises together, the highlight of which was cruising among Hawaii’s islands to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Elizabeth was devoted to her family’s happiness and well-being even though she maintained a courageous struggle with her own mental health for most of her adult life. By and large, though, she will be forever remembered for her kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness, and the love she bestowed on those she held dear. Her beautiful smile and gentle spirit will warm our hearts, always.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marilyn Henebry. She is survived by her husband Joseph, son Joseph (Angela Rayborn), daughter Kathryn, grandsons Jacob (Holly Coleman) and Zachary, great-granddaughter Juniper, brothers Jim and Bill, sister Nora Ann Kerr, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal services per Elizabeth’s and Joseph’s wishes.
