Eldon Eugene Fiscus was born January 22, 1952 in Twin Falls ID to parents Bernice Lillian Knight Fiscus and Olen Ray Fiscus. He passed away peacefully, at home and in his favorite chair on May 2, 2026. He resided at 20472 N Main St. Carey, Idaho where he made many friends and spent his life with family members Carey Idaho being this small town that it is, everyone knew Eldon either by GENE, Gino, Dad, grandpa, grandpa Boo, uncle Gene, Uncle Eldon, and other names that not be mentioned but will remain his legacy forever.
Gene’s love for his family was unspoken but known. He loved tinkering with cars, building things with his hands and getting out in the open air. He held many positions in his life but his most favorite was when he worked in the outdoors and could be himself. He loved to drive around Carey seeing what was new for the day (usually not much) and collecting items that he could find along the way. He liked to fish but he did not like to eat them. When he went fishing and he hooked one or two, he would either give it to family members or give it to the person that was fishing beside him stranger or friend. Gene spent time hunting birds of any feather with his brothers, kids, and friends. On a couple of occasion hunting only resulted with shots fired leaving a gunshot wound in the floorboard of vehicles. No worries, no one was injured.
Depending on who you were Gene’s personality was either a rough old SOB or a kindhearted, soft quiet man. Some saw him grow softer over the years dealing with many illnesses. He held his emotions close and tight but when you said I love you to Gene his response was either huh, a nod of the head or you too.
Gene was born into a large family of ten brothers and one sister. The annual Fiscus family reunions consisted of many many many family members. The event was always fun and games, tasty food, good company, lots of pranks, laughter and cleaning up. You would often hear citizens of Carey say, “oh yeah the infamous Fiscus family reunion.”
Gene grew up Buhl, Idaho, Salem Oregon, Jerome, Idaho and Kansas and landed in Jerome, Idaho once again.
He was preceded in death by his parents Olen and Bernice, two sons infant Travis and 17-year-old Travis, two brothers Laverne (Jean ) and Lyle (Tara) and two sister in laws -Norma (Jerome) and Linda (Frank)
He is survived by his wife Susan, three sons Michael (Natalie), Brandon (Aneta), and TJ (Katrina) and daughter Tina (Bryan) His siblings- Jerome, Frank, Henry, (Florence) Verlin (Linda), Theron (Laurie), Alfred (Kim), Marion (Robyn), and sister Norma. 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
