Obituary for James M. Davies

James Murphy Davies
January 22, 1928-November 3, 2011
James (Jimmy, “Luv”, Dad, Granda) Davies died suddenly on November 3rd, 2011 of a heart attack at home. At 83 years old he lived a life full of love for his family, friends, animals and everything out of doors-especially hunting and fishing. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Patricia Davies; his children Allison Davies, Sarah Davies, Stephen Davies, Matthew Davies, and Jennifer (Jim) Morrison; and his grandchildren Ellawynn and Zane Morrison. He was an avid outdoorsman, a kind and gentle man, and loved by all who knew him.

Born in San Francisco, he was the only child of Gertrude and James M Davies. He attended schools in Burlingame, Ca. and later graduated from the University of Nevada Reno where he was on the ski patrol. He went on to become a stock broker in San Francisco, gaining knowledge that would carry him through the rest of his life. It was there that he met his third wife and love of his life Patricia in 1967. They were married in 1968 and moved to the Wood River Valley where they have lived ever since.
Jimmy started painting in his thirties to thank friends who invited him duck hunting. He was self-taught and went on to have many successful one-man shows across the U.S. He worked mostly in watercolors and painting game birds was what he loved best. Because of his love of hunting and fishing he did what he could to support Ducks Unlimited, Trout Unlimited and The Nature Conservancy.

The family is planning a celebration of his life for the summer of 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trout Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited or The Nature Conservancy in his name.
