In loving memory of Dad, Daddy, Dave.
David B. Theobald, 85, a cherished resident of Ketchum, Idaho, and Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on April 4 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rocky River, Ohio, to Carl Jacob Theobald and Elizabeth Buchan.
David's journey began in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where he spent his formative years and attended Cranbrook Day High School. There, he became a diehard University of Michigan Wolverine fan for life! Following his graduation, he pursued higher education at Denison University, graduating in 1961. His commitment to service led him to enlist in the Air Force before embarking on a successful career with the Aetna Group in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Throughout his professional journey, David excelled in the consulting business, showcasing his expertise in various locations, including Detroit, Michigan, Louisville, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio, where he served as the president of Meidinger and Associates. In the mid-80's he ventured to La Jolla, California, and established Theobald and Associates before founding Netshare.com in San Francisco.
While David's career spanned diverse locations, his heart belonged to Sun Valley, where he dedicated his last 30 years. A force in the community, he passionately served on numerous boards and foundations, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. Sun Valley was his utopia, a place he loved and cherished beyond comparison.
David is survived by his adoring wife, Marilyn Rawlings; his brother, John W. Theobald; his daughter, Cynthia L. Theobald; and his son, David B. Theobald Jr. David’s legacy continues through his three remarkable grandchildren, Kennedy C. Watts, Tatnall E. Watts, and William W. Theobald. And not to forget, a lifetime of friendship and devotion, 80 years, the remaining two of the “Three Amigos," William Cormack and Fritz Kern.
A service honoring David's life will be held on April 27 at the Ketchum Cemetery at 12:30 p.m., followed by a celebration of his wonderful journey of life at Grumpy's. Through his enduring spirit and profound impact, David will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Thank you, we love you. May your soul rest peacefully. I miss you so much.
GO BLUE FOREVER!
