David Eugene Morris born on February 18th, 1959, in Spring, Pennsylvania. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 9th, 2025 at his cabin in Stanley, Idaho.
He was a beloved son, brother, father and friend. He is survived by his two sons and one daughter. He joins his father and his son who predeceased him.
Dave grew up in a blue collar family of 6. As kids they shared memories of ice skating on frozen lakes and dressing in PJs before piling into the car to go to a drive-in movie. He graduated from Flagler High School in Flagler, Colorado class of 1977. After losing his driver’s license as a young adult due to excessive speeding tickets, his father enrolled him in flying lessons to help mitigate his need for speed. He graduated from Spartan Aeronautics Academy in 1980. His career as a pilot started with crop dusting in a Cessna and progressed to flying Google executives in a Gulfstream 650.
Through the years he worked for a range of employers in Colorado, Texas, Idaho and California. He moved to Ketchum to take a job as a pilot for a local family in the early 1990s. There he met Lois Rickert, they were married and had 4 kids. They divorced 13 years later.
The highlight of Dave’s life was raising his children. He enjoyed camping trips, shooting guns, pulling kids behind a snowmobile, dirt bike rides, and especially a picnic on the 4-wheeler! He will be fondly remembered for being an incredible father. He was an “Uncle” to so many beyond his family. He loved children and was always entertaining the young ones with jokes and antics at any gathering. Dave was a great friend to many, he always had a funny joke or a good story. He was a very generous and giving man, even when his own finances were strained. He will be greatly missed.
All are welcome to attend the service to celebrate the life of Dave Morris which will be held at the Church of the Bigwood on Saturday, January 10th at 1pm.
