Dallas lived primarily in the Bay Area and in the Wood River Valley. He also traveled extensively and lived in Thailand for several winters, where in 2007 he met his wife, Aree. Dallas was a beloved husband, father and friend.
He shared his passion for travel with his kids, Molly and Jon, when they were growing up. He made friends with and kept in touch with people from all over the world. His travels included climbing Kilimanjaro in Africa, many ski trips to Zermatt, trekking the Khumbu in Nepal and many visits to his adopted family (Murni’s) in Bali. He began visiting Ketchum in the early 1980s with his buddies known as “The Space Cowboys” from the Bay Area. Those visits later turned into permanent residence in Ketchum.
He was an excellent communicator and mentor. He liked nothing more than having conversations and sharing stories with his dearest family and friends and even perfect strangers who then became friends. He loved discussing life's deepest questions and meaning.
He also loved sports, all sports. He was a lifelong supporter of the Bay Area college and professional teams. Watching sports brought him great joy and he liked sharing those experiences with friends. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed skiing and hiking. We will miss our philosopher friend.
Dallas is survived by his wife, Aree; son, Jonathan, and daughter, Molly; and his four granddaughters, Maddy, Charlotte, Evie and Violet.
A heartfelt thank you to the Hospice of the Wood River Valley.
