Cody Ann O’Bryan
Born on January 23, 1947, in Downey, California
The family of Cody Ann O’Bryan, of Sun Valley, Idaho, is saddened to announce her passing, on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the age of 78. A progressive lung disease, leading ultimately to heart failure, was her cause of death.
God’s love was at the center of Cody’s ambitions in life. We were blessed to experience Jesus’s unconditional love first hand through our mother. Cody’s passion for protecting and guiding children, young and old, was her God-given mission here on Earth. She was a force to be reckoned with. She loved with all of her heart, mind, and soul. Her commitment to her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids was beyond measure, and the pain of her absence is felt through generations.
Cody spent the majority of her years in Wenatchee, WA and Newport Beach, CA. She was a member in the Junior League of Orange County to advance women’s leadership skills in their communities through volunteer action. She made an impact in her community through her membership in the Philharmonic Society of Orange County bringing music education programs to students from K-12th grade. In her 60s, Cody traveled on missions to Sierra-Leon, Africa and to Bogota, Colombia sharing the good news of the Gospel. Cody always had the right scripture, verse, book, or sermon to guide us, no matter the life event. She was an advocate for education and continued tutoring her great grandchildren until her very last days. She loved fearlessly and unconditionally.
Cody is survived by her four children, Jackson B. Smith (Amy), of Corona Del Mar, CA; Jeffrey E. Smith (Andrea), of Los Angeles, CA; Tiffany L. Taylor (Michael), of Wenatchee, WA; and Stephany L. Whipple (Dr. Robert), of Summerlin, NV, her Grandchildren, Alexandra Smith (Jessie), Andrew Smith (Alejandra), Courtney Wing (Nathan), Lauren Smith, Caroline Taylor, Julia Smith, Sophia Smith, Isabella Taylor, Siena Smith, Charlie Smith, and Great-grandchildren, Aiden Smith, Audrey Smith, Benjamin Smith, and Gunner Smith.
A private grave-side service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at the Ketchum Cemetery, in Ketchum, ID. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to The River Academy, her grandchildren’s Classical Christian school in Wenatchee, WA, a cause close to her heart.
We are so grateful to Dr. Robert and Stephany Whipple, for their selfless love and medical care during the last year of Cody’s life.
We are confident that she is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Until we meet again in Heaven Momma, we will miss you each and every day.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should have eternal life.”
