Life Story for
Pat Barker
Earnest Patrick “Pat” Barker
Pat Barker passed away in his home on Friday, September 14, 2018. He was born on April 16, 1943 in Wendell, Idaho to Curtis and Evalyn Barker. One of four children, Pat grew up on his father’s ranch where he and his siblings Mick, Carla and Cheri Lynn learned that an honest day’s work was a 16-hour day. He attended Bellevue school 1-12 grades and graduated in 1961. This was where he met his wife of 53 years Faye Hatch. Pat joined the Marine Corp just after graduation and served 4 years during which he married his high school sweetheart Faye and they had their first child Curtis while living in California. They moved back to Bellevue in 1966 with Pat joining his father in the ranching business. This year brought their second child Crystal. Pat continued building the ranch and Faye began working for the Postal Service in 1968. They had their 3rd child Cindy in 1971. Pat made friends everywhere he went with his witty sense of humor and thousands of jokes that kept everyone laughing. When you heard that deep voice and joyous laugh there was no mistaking who it was. Some of Pat’s favorite memories were time spent with his family; when he would take pack horses into the mountains to graze the sheep in the summer. As much time as Pat spent away ranching, he tried to make it to as many of his children’s sporting events, as the sheep would allow, and enjoyed celebrating milestones in his children’s lives. Pat was always working on some piece of equipment. He was a great mechanic but often asked advice from his good friend, Billy Aitken. When they were finished they would wash the taste of oil out of their mouths with Whiskey. They must have gotten a lot of oil in their mouths. Pat and Faye loved to have parties with all their friends, the closest being Bill and Elaine Karst, who they have wintered with in Dateland Arizona for the past 14 years. Pat and Faye enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing cards with their great friends Jim and Jerry Bright. Pat was an amazing Poppy to his grandchildren teaching them to drive a stick shift and his four-wheeler. Pat’s warm heart and boisterous laugh will be missed by all. Pat is survived by his wonderful wife Faye Barker, brother Mick (Tyke) Barker of Inkom ID, sister Carla Miller of Bellevue ID, his children Curt (Vicki) Barker of Bellevue ID, Crystal (Dirk) Helder of Boise Id, Cindy (Dan) Karst of Bellevue ID, his grandchildren Ashley (Keifer) Klauser of Twin Falls, ID, Devin Karst of Bellevue ID, Kaden and Desy Helder of Boise ID, Bryson (Jamilyn) Wolmack of Eugene OR, and his great grandchildren Aspen and Tora Womack and Klayton Klauser. He was proceeded in death by his Father Curtis Barker, his mother Evalyn Barker, and his sister Cheri Lynn Barker.
