Kenneth Ray Anderson, 65

It is with great sadness that family and friends announce the death of Ken Anderson on July 15, 2013. Ken was born on November 17, 1947, in Bloomington, IN, and was the son of Wilma and Robert Anderson of Sunnyvale, CA. He is survived by his mother, his brother Keith Anderson and sister-in-law Bev Anderson, of Woodside, CA.
Ken attended Michigan State, studied Chemistry, and spent the majority of his career with United Airlines. He had lived in Ketchum for about thirteen years after moving from the Bay Area. Ken was a loyal friend to many people in the Valley, in the U.S. and around the world, and he was greatly admired for his kindness and his broad range of interests and activities.
Ken had an insatiable need to stay active physically, to learn, and to question the status quo with a mind that was keenly logical. He sailed in Tonga, ski raced all over North America with the United Airlines Ski Team, backcountry skied in diverse places ranging from Mt. Shasta to La Grave, France, and passionately loved skiing Baldy. He rode his bicycle on a trip around the world, visited 62 countries, and explored most of the Western U.S. by bike. He kayaked in Nepal and Patagonia and many of the rivers in Northern California, hiked New Zealand's Milford Track, tandem-biked in Bhutan, and competed in the Paris-Brest-Paris 750-mile bike race. He was an avid and accomplished fly fisherman, constantly attended lectures and dance concerts, played an excellent game of bridge, and loved listening to the Sun Valley Symphony.
Ken was an adventurer with a Renaissance range of interests. He took great pleasure in sharing the company of his many friends (and their dogs) hiking in the mountains or hanging out around a campfire, and was always willing to listen when someone needed to talk. Ken had a kind and sensitive heart and was a shining example of a thoroughly decent person. He is deeply missed.
