Life Story for Edward M. Alfs

Edward “Eddie” Alfs, 72, of Ketchum, Idaho died Monday, March 10th, 2014 at St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center in Ketchum.

Born March 31, 1941, Eddie started life in Huntsville, Alabama. He moved to Wendover, Nevada with his mother and brother Billy-Wayne. While there, Bobbie met Dick Alfs. Dick and Bobbie were married and then moved their family to Ketchum, where he lived life on his terms, played and then passed. Eddie attended Ketchum Elementary and graduated from Hailey High School.

In the 60's, Eddie was a Ketchum police officer. He then went on to work construction and started his own property management business “House Doctor Eddie”. Eddie enjoyed taking care of his clients over the past 30 years and watching their families grow.

Eddie loved hunting, fishing and golfing. He would fish and hunt in the Copper Basin, Stanley Basin and the Wood River Valley. He also enjoyed going to the Sun Valley Jazz Festival every year. If you couldn’t find him during the week of the Jazz Festival in October, he would be up at Sun Valley listening to the music he loved.

He was passionate about his dogs. Eddie loved all dogs and his house was well known by all dogs. He loved to give treats to the dogs that lived on his street.

Surviving family members include his sister Susan Alfs and her children Lacie and Robert Figgat; nephew Chris McCarthy, niece D.D. McCarthy; brother-in-law Paul McCarthy; puppy-dogs Libby, Izzy and Marley, and neighbor dogs Trigger and Tia.

He was preceded in death by his mother Bobbie Alfs, step-father Dick Alfs, sister Valerie McCarthy and brother Billie-Wayne Johanson.

At Eddie’s request there will be no services. Please remember him for the laughs shared, special moments, kind heart and crystal blue eyes.
